Standing Seam Metal Roofing Across the Michiana Area

Standing seam and metal panel systems that shed snow and outlast two shingle roofs.

Metal is the upgrade Michiana homeowners ask about most once they have lived through a few winters. A standing seam roof sheds snow instead of holding it, has no exposed fasteners to back out over time, and keeps performing through the freeze-thaw swings that shorten the life of an asphalt roof. On lake properties and open rural lots where wind has a clean run at the house, it is often the most sensible long-term choice available.

Lake Acer installs metal roofing on full homes, additions, porches, and the low-slope sections where shingles were never the right answer. We measure and detail the panel layout for your specific roof — ridges, valleys, chimney and sidewall flashing — so the finished roof reads as one clean plane rather than a patchwork of trim.

Our process

How a metal roof goes on

  1. Step 01

    Inspection and measurement

We inspect the existing roof and deck, measure every plane, and confirm the pitch is right for the panel profile you are considering.

  2. Step 02

    Profile, gauge and color selection

Standing seam or exposed fastener, panel width, gauge and finish color — chosen against your siding and trim, with the cost difference shown plainly.

  3. Step 03

    Tear-off and deck preparation

Old roofing comes off, the deck is inspected and repaired, and a high-temperature underlayment is installed under the full panel field.

  4. Step 04

    Panel installation and flashing

Panels are set, seamed and fastened to spec, with custom-bent valley, sidewall, chimney and ridge flashing so the water path is continuous.

  5. Step 05

    Trim, cleanup and walkthrough

Ridge caps, gable and eave trim, a full magnet sweep of the property, and a walkthrough before we leave.

Why Lake Acer

Why homeowners choose us for metal roofing

  • Sheds snow and ice

Smooth panels and continuous seams give lake-effect snow somewhere to go instead of sitting on the roof through a thaw cycle.

  • No exposed fasteners on standing seam

Concealed clips mean nothing to back out, rust or need re-screwing in ten years — the usual failure point on cheaper metal roofs.

  • Wind performance

A properly clipped and seamed panel roof is a strong answer on the open, exposed lots common across rural Michiana.

  • Long service life

A metal roof is routinely still doing its job after two asphalt roofs would have been replaced, which is where the cost difference pays itself back.

  • Works where shingles cannot

Porch roofs, additions and low-slope runs that chew through shingles are often the best candidates for a panel system.

  • Backed in writing

Manufacturer material coverage plus our own 5-year workmanship warranty on the installation.

Metal Roofing — common questions

  • Is metal roofing noisy in rain?

Not the way people expect. A metal roof installed over a solid deck with underlayment — which is how we install it on a house — sounds materially different from bare panels over open purlins on a pole barn. The deck and attic insulation do most of the work.

  • Can metal go over my existing shingles?

It is physically possible in some cases, but we generally do not recommend it. Going over shingles hides whatever the deck is doing and makes the next repair harder. We quote a tear-off and tell you what we find underneath.

  • Does metal cost more than shingles?

Up front, yes. Over the life of the roof the comparison usually narrows considerably, because a metal roof is still in service when a shingle roof installed the same year has already been replaced. We quote both so you can see the real numbers for your own roof.
