Siding Installation & Replacement in Michiana

James Hardie fiber cement and vinyl siding, installed as a weather system — not just a surface.
Two-story suburban home clad in tan lap siding, with black shutters and a white two-car garage door

Siding is the other half of the envelope. It takes the same wind-driven rain and the same freeze-thaw punishment the roof does, and when it fails the damage shows up as rot behind the wall rather than a stain on the ceiling — which is why it tends to be discovered late and cost more than expected.

Lake Acer is a James Hardie certified installer and replaces siding across the Michiana region. We treat the wall as a system: what we find when the old siding comes off gets addressed, the water-resistive barrier and flashing go in correctly, and the new cladding is installed to the manufacturer's specification so its warranty actually stands.

Our process

How we replace siding

  1. Step 01

    Exterior inspection and measurement

We assess the existing siding, trim, soffit and fascia, and look for the telltale signs of water getting behind the cladding.

  2. Step 02

    Product and color selection

Fiber cement or vinyl, profile, exposure and color — with samples held against your roof and trim rather than chosen off a screen.

  3. Step 03

    Tear-off and sheathing inspection

Old siding comes off and the sheathing underneath is inspected. Any rot or water damage is shown to you and priced before it is replaced.

  4. Step 04

    Weather barrier and flashing

House wrap, window and door flashing and the kick-out flashing at roof-wall intersections — the detail most responsible for hidden wall rot.

  5. Step 05

    Siding, trim and finishing

Cladding installed to spec with proper clearances and fastening, then trim, corners, soffit and fascia to finish the elevation.

Why Lake Acer

Why homeowners choose us for siding installation

  • James Hardie certified

We are manufacturer-certified with James Hardie, so fiber cement goes on to the clearance and fastening spec its warranty requires.

  • Built for Michiana freeze-thaw

Fiber cement does not become brittle in a cold snap the way older vinyl can, and it holds paint through the swing between January and July.

  • The wall behind it gets fixed

Rotted sheathing and missing flashing are found at tear-off. We show you, price it, and repair it rather than cladding over it.

  • One contractor for roof and walls

The roof-to-wall flashing detail is where a lot of leaks live. Having the same company responsible for both sides of it removes the argument.

  • Storm damage to siding is claimable

Hail and wind damage siding as well as roofs. If yours was hit, it belongs in the same claim — we document both.

Siding Installation — common questions

  • Can you side just one elevation?

Yes, and it is common after storm damage takes out a single wall. The honest caveat is color match: new siding next to siding that has weathered for a decade rarely matches invisibly, and we will show you how close it is likely to be before you commit.

  • Fiber cement or vinyl?

Fiber cement is more durable, holds paint, and handles impact better; vinyl costs less and installs faster. We quote both for the same elevation so you are comparing real numbers on your own house rather than general advice.

  • Do you replace soffit and fascia too?

Yes — and on most siding replacements it makes sense to, because that is where hidden rot and ventilation problems usually turn up once the old material is off.
